Tianhe Smart City Utility Tunnel Project is one of the national pilot projects of utility tunnel pilot city in 2016, and a key construction project of Guangzhou City. The project is 19.4 kilometers in length, with 8.6 kilometers constructed with TBM and the rest 10.8 kilometers constructed by cutting and covering, and the prefabricated section is 600 meters long. Components including monolithic single-compartment utility tunnel, split upper and lower two-compartment utility tunnel, split upper and lower three-compartment utility tunnel, TBM segments are prefabricated.  The project is the first three-compartment utility tunnel in Guangdong Province and the first three-compartment split upper and lower segments assembled utility tunnel in China.
